Tropical Soup (Oxtail)
Tropical Soup (Oxtail)
Oxtail soup is a popular dish that originates between the English and the Asians. When the soup was first prepared in the 17th century, only tails of oxen were used, hence, the name “oxtail or ox-tail”. However, modern oxtail soup is prepared with the tail of any cattle and comes in different delicacies.
Some of the popular varieties of oxtail soup include the Chinese Niúwěi tāng, Indonesian Sop Buntut, Creole oxtail soup, and the Dcave Tropical Soup (the best oxtail soup in Houston).
In addition to its nutritional value, a steaming bowl of oxtail soup offers a uniquely satisfying blend of flavors and a sweet taste that sets it apart from other bowls of soups.

How To Make?
- Prepare the ingredients: Ensure the oxtail is well-trimmed and contains low fat. Then, peel and dice your veggies according to your preference. You should also mince the onions and other aromatics.
- Coat the oxtail in flour: Coat the oxtail in flour to ensure that the meat retains its moisture and tenderness.

Serve with any dish of choice or enjoy your bowl of soup as a starter.
Tips And Tricks
Remember that oxtail does not necessarily mean you get an ox’s tail, the tail of any cattle will do just fine. Ensure the oxtail is well-trimmed to reduce the fat content. Another good way of reducing the fat is to barbecue the oxtail instead of frying. You can also include mushrooms in your ingredient - an important element in Asian oxtail bowl soup.
